Love and the light of the world

In 1John 4:8 we are told " Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." Later in 1John 4:16 it is written "God is love".
This love , the love that comes from God and finds a place in our hearts, is the love that made all things be. This love trully is the light of the world. And in a time such as this, we must be thankfull for the light that has been given unto us. We must be thankfull for what we have freely received and this is His love. In God's Love lies the ultimate reason for everything, from the creation, to His sacrifce, from our redemption to the Kingdom of Heaven that has been prepared for us from the foundation of the world. In love lie all reasons. And if we receive such blessings it is right that we ask ourselves this question: " Are we worthy of them". Surely, it is a wonderfull thing that the LORD does not judge on a merit based system, and gives His love and blessings without measure. But if we are to say that we love the LORD, then we must ask ourselves this question. And this is not a yes or no question, because we must dwell on judgementalisms, but this question requires a reflection. If we are to be trully worthy of God's love, then we must be perfect, just like He is perfect and His love is perfect. And the thing here is not to fall into an existentian connundrum about the inachievability of such perfection, rather we should always seek it, without asking if it is achievable or not. Like our LORD Jesus Christ said: " all things are possible to him that believes". And such , let us set our sights to this: let's be worthy of God great Love. And through what could such worthyness be achieved? The answer is only one: we can achieve this through love. The love for our God and the love for our neighbour. Through love we can be on the path to achieving perfection, because everything is done by God through His love. And this feat, that we should be worthy of His love, that we should be perfect like Him just as He demanded from us, is not a feat of ours, it is a feat of the LORD done upon us.  For without love, without His love we can only confess like Paul " I am nothing".
